What is dance?
Dance is a fundamental form of human expression - the harmony of emotion and body. Dance is common to all known cultures. Dance is generally defined as moving with organized steps, either solo or with a group, with a formulated succession of bodily movements and typically done to the sound of music. Choreography, the art of organizing dance movements into a unified, organic whole, is also considered part of dance.
What do dancers do?
Dancers work in a variety of fields including plays, musicals, film, television and chorus shows. Dancing has many styles including: folk dance, ballroom dance, Latin dance, swing dance, street dance, traditional dance, ceremonial dance, liturgical dance, participative dance improvisation, ballet, belly dance, 20th Century concert dance, and theater dance.
