What is art?
Type Art in Google and you get an overwhelming 1 billion, 750 million entries. According to the American Heritage Dictionary, Art is defined as "the arrangement of colors, forms, or other elements in a manner that affects the sense of beauty, specifically the production of the beautiful in a graphic or plastic medium". However, this is just one of hundreds of dictionary entries. So which one is right? The amount of discussion on what Art is and what it means is so overwhelming, that perhaps the best answer would be - All of them.
What do artists do?
Artists work in many exciting and diverse fields including galleries and museums, freelance, film, TV, advertising, illustration, animation, teaching, community outreach, and many others.
The types of art are nearly as overwhelming as definitions of it, but they include: two-dimensional such as drawing, painting, digital, graffiti, photography, and illustration; and three-dimensional such as sculpture, ceramics, architecture, installation, and mosaic. When the term craft is applied to mediums of visual art, they typically refer to forms like ceramics, glass, textiles, wood, metal, paper, tapestry, and candles.
